On-Site

On-site editing is a big challenge, lots of clock pressure, but it’s also extremely rewarding.

This piece I edited in two hours and then exported to be shown as part of an awards presentation that had already started! It was shot on DVCAM tape, though looking back using a tapeless system might have given us a little more editing time due to the faster than real-time importing. The playback was done by exporting an MPEG-2 file directly from the Final Cut Pro timeline and then transferring to the PC that was being used to run the projection by USB stick (again to save the time of burning a DVD).

I’m really happy with the result given the time-pressure involved, it’s got quite a ‘Top Gear’ vibe and motor-sports are always a lot of fun to edit.
